Expanded Piano
With over 90 works to his name, Stavros Gasparatos is recognized as one of the most active and popular Greek composers in the field of electro-acoustic music. The concert/installation Expanded Piano takes the immersive element that has been a constant in his music to new heights. A refined sound installation envelops the audience, placing the listener acoustically within a grand piano which is ‘expanded’ live using electronic means. Expanded Piano was commissioned by EMPAC (Experimental Media And Performing Arts Centre / Troy, New York), and was created and presented in New York in the autumn of 2014. The installation is being redesigned for the Athens Festival.
