Summer Class on Ancient Drama

“Exploring Aspects of European Identity and Ideology Through the (Re-) Enactment of Ancient Drama

The European Network of Research and Documentation of Performances of Ancient Greek Drama will be staging its seventh annual ancient drama classes at Epidaurus this year (the third as part of the Athens Festival). This year’s intensive course, entitled Exploring European Identities/Ideologies by means of (re) presentations of Ancient Greek Drama, will take place between July 7- 20, 2008. The cycle will include a series of academic lectures and presentations by theatre professionals and scholars, workshops, rehearsals, performances, and panel discussions with actors and directors.

The course aims to explore the link between theoretical approaches to ancient Greek drama and the on-stage act, and to survey recent achievements in the field.
