Sylvie Guillem & Akram Khan
Sacred Monsters
Two ‘sacred monsters’ of dance bring together the East and the West. Two unique dance phenomena, meet on stage and share their experiences and memories guided by a common desire for experimentation and renewal. Gifted with an outstanding ballet virtuosity and drawing strength from her fragility, Sylvie Guillem embraces the risk of exploring the Asian path to perfection. Akram Khan was attracted in turn by the “dichotomy of opposites”- Krishna and Shiva - to levitate magically between the Indian Kathak and the experimental contemporary dance.
Two sacred monsters taming a third: the stage.
