Lecture "Sound top(i)ographies: Artistic and theoretical tracings in the acoustic environment"

Artists and theorists discuss the relationships between sound and place, memory and borders. Starting from different occasions and points of departure, from sound art to the most recent versions of audio walks, we will attempt to investigate the placement / displacement of our acoustic experiences, the sound dynamics in the production and rearticulation of our experiential relationship with space.

Participants:

Nikos Boubaris, Zafos Xagoraris, Elpida Rikou, Danai Stefanou.

Curating:

Pafsanias Karathanasis, Panagiotis Panopoulos.

One Laptop Per Child

Lecture by Dr.Boulanger about One Laptop Per Child (OLPC at www.laptop.org) which is a non-profit organization created by Nicholas Negroponte and others from the MIT Media Lab to design, manufacture and distribute laptop computers that are sufficiently inexpensive to provide every child in the world access to knowledge and modern forms of education. These XO laptops are rugged, open source, and so energy efficient that they can be powered by a child manually. Mesh networking gives many machines Internet access from one connection. The pricing goal is $100.

In addition it is organized a workshop at Bios (84, Pireos str., Keramikos), at 6:00 pm, with the title

Αnalogue Μodular Synthesis

The workshop is focused on the application of the basic methods of synthesis(Subtractive, FM, AM) on analogue modular synthesizers (the Doepfer A-100 analogue modular synthesizer will be used as an example): Application of analogue VCOs, LFOs, Envelopes, VCAs, Ring modulator, Waveshapers, Sample and Hold for the creation of simple and intricate sonic tones, drums and sound effects in the modular environment. Connection with cv / gate keyboard controller. Application of analogue step-sequencers and analogue modular synths as real-time sound manipulation tools (interactive link between sound source and analogue modular). Practical application of analogue modulars and MIDI.
