Dimitris Dimitriadis’ overwhelming aria on erotic passion, betrayal and loss – inspired by Visconti’s 1954 film Senso – returns once more to its ideal setting, the industrial interior and exterior landscapes of the Peiraios 260 venue. In this much-discussed site-specific performance by Michael Marmarinos, staged once more following its success at last year’s Festival, an all-female chorus of distinguished actors present an operatic monologue without music. “I am Countess Livia Serpieri. I betrayed my lover, Sergeant Franz Mahler, denouncing him for desertion from the Austrian Army…”
