Alain Buffard returns to the Athens Festival as acerbic as ever with his ironically entitled Tout va bien. Taking the body into battle, his parody of military discipline savages the regulatory mechanisms society employs to produce what Michel Foucault would call a ‘submissive body’. Employing numerous cinematic references and a style akin to the cabaret of Twenties Berlin, Buffard’s eight exceptional dancers bring us his own personal physical theatre of disobedience. A dark, powerful, unorthodox work lent balance by its burlesque touches.
