Dionysios Solomos, Lambros, the Zakynthos manuscript no. 12

“Lambros will remain a Fragment”: words that would indelibly mark Solomos’ entire oeuvre. What’s more, it’s as though this seminal work of Modern Greek letters actually emulates the ruins among which it was written.

Taking the Z12 manuscript as her starting point, the talented young director gives us her take on the tragic tale of Lambros, the “pernicious but noble man” who was to have four children with “ill-fated” Maria and, “unbeknownst to him, make a wife of his own daughter”.
